Utah has trainers. AO Hoops builds complete players.
Earned. Not given. What we build here
Skills & Craft
Shooting mechanics, ball handling, footwork, finishing — built with intention so the technique holds up when the gym is loud and the margin is thin. Reps that transfer.
Basketball IQ
Reads, decisions, and game awareness trained as skills — not hoped for as byproducts. We put athletes in read-and-react environments until the processing becomes automatic.
Mental Performance
Evidence-based sports psychology built into every session. Confidence, focus, pre-performance routines, emotional regulation — trained with the same seriousness as any physical skill.
Decision-Making
The gap between a good player and a great one lives in the half-second between when the situation changes and when she acts. We train that gap on purpose.
Complete Athleticism
Strength, conditioning, and movement quality built specifically for basketball demands. The physical foundation that lets skill work transfer at game speed.
Next-Play Speed
The last play is over. The next one is starting. We build players who reset fast, stay engaged, and never let one mistake compound into three.
Honesty Over Hype
No empty speeches. No manufactured confidence. Straight feedback, real tools, and the kind of development that shows up in games — not just on Instagram.
The Family Standard
Discipline, accountability, resilience, ownership — life skills trained through the game. The court is the classroom. The standards we hold travel with you everywhere.
Who we train
Every age. Every level.
Boys and girls, first-time players to college athletes — if you want to get better, there’s a place for you here. No experience required. We meet every athlete where they are and build from there.

Inside the gym
AO Hoops doesn’t just build better players.
It builds complete ones.
There’s a version of player development that’s been sold to families for years — more reps, more drills, more skill work. Skill work matters. We do plenty of it. But skill work alone produces players who look great in workouts and plateau in games.
Three dimensions — skills, basketball IQ, and mental performance — developed together in every session, because that’s how they show up in games. A player who goes through this program doesn’t just have better mechanics. She knows how to read a defense, trust her reads, manage pressure, and play her next play freely.
“My daughter has worked with skill trainers for years. AO Hoops is the first program that actually changed how she plays — not just how she works out. The mental side alone has been worth every dollar.”
James C.
Utah County Athlete Family
“Coach Alex doesn’t just run drills. He teaches you how to read what’s happening in front of you. My game slowed down within the first month. Now I see things I used to miss.”
Beckham J.
High School Varsity Player
“I came in shooting okay and falling apart when I missed. I left with a shot I trust and the tools to bounce back from a bad quarter. That’s the real difference.”
Mallorie M.
Player Development Program
“The honesty is what sold me. No empty hype, no fake speeches — just real coaching from someone who knows the game. My daughter is a better player and a better teammate because of this work.”

Questions, answered
What ages do you train?
All ages — from youth players around 6 years old through middle school, high school, college, and adults. Every session is tailored to the athlete’s age and stage.
Do you train kids who are just starting out?
Absolutely. Plenty of our youngest players are brand new to the game. No experience is needed — we start with fundamentals, coordination, and confidence, then build from there.
Do you train both boys and girls?
Yes. Boys and girls of every age train at AO Hoops.
Is it 1-on-1 or group training?
Both. We offer focused 1-on-1 sessions and small-group sessions of 3–5 athletes. We’ll help you pick the right fit when we talk.
Where and when do sessions happen?
In Utah County and Salt Lake County, by appointment. We confirm the exact location and schedule once you’re set up.
Can my player train online too?
Yes. Alongside in-person sessions, athletes can follow our online programs — the same guided workouts and standards — to keep building between sessions.
